Reflecting on a Year of Growth and Community at Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center

As the year draws to a close, we find ourselves filled with immense gratitude for the opportunity to witness the incredible progress and vibrant climate within the Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center. It has been a truly remarkable year of growth—not just for our center, but, most importantly, for the amazing children we serve.

We are thrilled to celebrate a significant milestone this year: increased enrollment. More families have chosen the Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center as a place where their children can thrive, and it is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the strength of our program. Seeing the daily development, curiosity, and sheer joy of our children is the greatest reward, and it affirms the positive environment we strive to create.

A core focus this year for the Texas A&M Children’s Centers was strengthening the connection between the centers and our families. We successfully achieved this goal through events like Picnic on the Playground, held this year at our sister campus, BGCC. Seeing our families connect, laugh, and play together in such a relaxed setting was a powerful reminder of the supportive community surrounding the Children’s Centers.

Other highlights included:

  • Family Fun Night at our local Farmer’s Market
  • The Fall Family Feast
  • Family Power Hour sessions

These sessions created valuable opportunities for parents to engage with us and each other, including meaningful conversations over coffee. The feedback has been positive, and it’s clear these sessions are fostering a strong sense of community.

Our commitment to growth extends to our exceptional teaching staff. We believe that continuous learning is vital for providing the best education. This Fall, our teachers participated in a productive two-day professional development opportunity designed to sharpen their teaching skills and integrate the latest educational strategies into their classrooms using the HighScope curriculum. Experts from HighScope provided targeted professional development for teachers from both centers.

We are proud of their dedication to excellence and their enthusiasm for bringing new ideas into their daily interactions with the children.

This year, our preschool and PreK teachers are excited about participating in the Tex:CS Robot Research Project with Dr. Margaret Quinn from the Institute for Early Childhood Development and Education. This collaboration is evidence of our mission to foster a work environment that encourages growth, leadership, and meaningful contributions to the field.

As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with deep gratitude for the children, families, staff, partners, and supporters who make the mission of the Texas A&M Children’s Centers a great place to learn and grow. Thank you, families, for your trust, partnership, and participation this past year. We look forward to continuing this journey of growth, learning, and fun in the year ahead!
