Happy New Year CSCC Families!

As I look back on 2024, I am still in awe of the progress and growth made during the past year at Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center. We have seen remarkable advancements in our curriculum, indoor and outdoor spaces, growth, research opportunities and collaboration with TAMU departments and community partners to provide learning opportunities and extracurricular activities for all of our children and staff.

Implementation of the HighScope curriculum has provided our dedicated team of teachers the tool they need to implement innovative teaching methods that cater to the diverse needs of our children, ensuring that each child receives personalized attention and academic support.

Our new STEAM lab has provided our children with an inclusive space for science, technology, engineering, art and math learning experiences. The skills developed in a STEAM lab provide critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and communication – are highly valued in today’s rapidly changing world. These skills are essential for success in future education, careers, and life in general.

Enrollment Growth

We’re delighted to see a significant increase in enrollment this year! This growth is a testament to the high-quality education and nurturing environment we provide for our children. Our enrollment has grown from 95 children in January 2024 to 141 children in January 2025. In 2024, we opened two new Infant rooms (Bluebonnets and Texas Toads), serving children 12 to 18 months old. Blue Topaz opened in December of 2024 serving children ages 2.5- to 3-years-old.

We have been actively involved in the WRITE Research Project, a collaboration with faculty and students in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture. Thank you to the families and teachers participating in the study. The WRITE Research project is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving language and literacy instruction in early childhood education. Through this project, our teachers will gain knowledge on innovative teaching strategies along with tools to assess their impact on our students’ development. You may see Aggie students observing in classrooms and working individually with children to assess their skills using game-like assessments similar to the activities they engage in in the classroom. Thank you for helping us learn from your children so we can prepare the best teachers for young children.

Looking Ahead

We’re excited to be working towards TRS (Texas Rising Star) accreditation. The TRS program is a quality rating and improvement system for childcare programs participating in the Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) Child Care Services program. TRS certification is available to licensed centers that meet the certification criteria. This accreditation will further solidify our commitment to providing exceptional High-Quality early childhood education and will open new opportunities for our students and staff.

We’re grateful for your continued support and look forward to sharing more updates with you in the future. To learn more about the Texas Rising Star, please visit: www.texasrisingstar.orgwww.texasrisingstar.org or click the links below to download the TRS parent Brochure.

As we look ahead, we are committed to continuing this journey of growth and excellence. We are planning to introduce more specialized programs, such as bilingual learning opportunities, to further enrich our curriculum.

Center Highlights

Ballet Brazos

Ballet Brazos, a non-profit organization serving dancers and community members throughout the Brazos Valley graced us with a version of the Nutcracker. Our children were excited to hear the story of the Nutcracker and see the dancers in their beautiful costumes.

Classroom Highlights

Choice time is a part of the HighScope curriculum where children learn through play and explore their environment at their own pace. During this time, teachers provide emotional and physical support and engage with children in various ways.

A Joyful Exploration

A student was all smiles as eagerly uses his feet to move in the cozy coupe.  He enjoys the fresh air and the sense of adventure, all while improving his coordination and building his physical strength.

During choice time, this student chose to focus on a math activity using counting bears. She is practicing writing numbers and solving math problems while another student chose to draw a picture during choice time.

A Fun-Filled Choice Time:

Students absolutely love choice time, especially when they get to solve puzzles and build with wood blocks. This student immerses himself in putting this puzzle together and building with blocks which helps him develop his fine motor skill.

Choice Time Fun

During choice time, a student’s imagination takes flight with the magnet monsters. He’s always inventing new and unique creatures. He also loves the home area, where he transformed into a little chef, placing a pot on the stove and diving into a world of imaginative cooking.

Your support and involvement are crucial to our success, and we encourage you to participate in our upcoming events. Together, we can create a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.
