Celebrating National CACFP Week in March!

March is National Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Week, and we are proud to celebrate our commitment to providing the highest-quality meals, nutritional education and physical development for our young Aggies at the Children’s Centers. Research shows that good nutrition in early childhood not only supports physical growth but also enhances intellectual and emotional development. Through CACFP, children develop positive eating habits that promote lifelong health and well-being.

“A new study has indicated that children may learn lifelong eating habits which will affect their weight for life – before age five! CACFP is more important than ever.” (National CACFP Association, 2025).

Our BGCC menus were honored with the Gold level Healthier CACFP Recognition Award in 2018, recognizing our outstanding efforts in ensuring a healthier future for Texas. Those same award-winning Gold level menus were introduced at the Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center this school year and continue to thrive.

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our AMAZING kitchen crews at BGCC and CSCC for their dedication to CACFP and the health of our children! Did you know that our kitchen teams receive support from Texas A&M nutrition students? These students gain hands-on experience in our kitchens, helping to shape their future careers in nutrition and dietetics.
