Teacher Appreciation – Honoring Our Educators
Teacher Appreciation takes place in May, and we have so much to be thankful for. It is a time to recognize the incredible work our teachers do each day to support the growth, development, and learning of our children. Their dedication not only shapes young minds but also plays a key role in our schools’ success and accreditation process. Let’s take this opportunity to celebrate and thank our amazing educators for all they do!
According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), great teaching encourages active, joyful learning that helps children grow, build confidence, and develop independence. Educators create rich, responsive environments by planning goal-oriented activities that align with the curriculum while adapting to individual interests and needs. By balancing child-led play with teacher-guided learning, using open-ended questions, and fostering positive interactions, teachers support diverse ways children learn. Intentional strategies—like read-alouds, group activities, and hands-on experiences—engage children through movement, music, art, and language. Educators collaborate with families to honor each child’s culture and background, designing inclusive and meaningful learning experiences that build confidence, value diversity, and promote fairness.
A program that meets this standard:
- Uses teaching practices that are nurturing and inclusive
- Equips educators to support each and every child’s development and learning through individualized and intentional practices
- Uses teaching practices that are culturally affirming and linguistically responsive to the children being served
- Supports learning through play and hands-on activities
