CSCC Center Spotlight

Our School Age program is running smoothly. Children are excited about exploring various learning opportunities our amazing teaching staff provides. Children are provided opportunities to engage in large and small group activities and individual time for reading and writing. They look forward to Splash Day every Friday at CSCC. We also cannot forget the amazing “Freedom Parade and Mud Day Event.” Thank you again for joining us during these memorable events.

I also want to give THANKS to our nursing students for spending time with our staff and children. They hold a special place in our hearts.

Meet our newest staff members: Ms. Tracy Bloom and Ms. Kamron Motter. They will support CSCC as substitute teachers in the classrooms when needed.

She is an avid reader and usually has several books going at a time. She also loves to bike, swim and kayak. She loves photography, crocheting and keeping chickens!

Ms. Kamron enjoys spending time with her two children on family vacations and having fun by the pool. She taught PreK at the Eagles Nest Child Care Center and Afterschool Care in the Bryan-College Station area. Ms. Kamron loves working with all age groups.

Classroom Success

We are excited to share impressive data with you as we continue to work toward the Texas Rising Star (TRS) Accreditation. Our instructional coach, former TRS assessor, has been completing the assessment tool to track our growth bi-monthly. The data below shows the gradual growth in Category 4, which focuses on the classroom environment. Since February, our teachers have soared in this category. To summarize the data, the overall classrooms in February moved from :

• 47% increase rating in classroom interest areas (variety of student interest areas)
• 21% increase rating with art or pictures posted at students eye level
• 26% increase rating in classroom labeling
• 31% increase rating in having real items in the classroom
• 19% increase OVERALL RATING

Our next area of focus is category 2, which involves student/ teacher interactions. We will look at warm and responsive interactions. Teacher-student interaction can be important for student’s academic and social development and contribute to a quality classroom. Positive interactions can improve classroom climate, boost motivation and cooperation, each students valuable interpersonal skills, foster trust and emotional security, build rapport and foster student engagement, and help students feel safe and supported. Research shows that students who feel safe and supported by adults at school are better able to learn.
